SOUTH CORE BANKS, N.C .– Coastal visitors will soon be able to experience the breath-taking view from the top of the Cape Lookout Lighthouse.
Cape Lookout National Seashore is opening the lighthouse for tower climbs on Wednesday, May 16. There are 216 steps to climb before reaching the top of the lighthouse, which boasts a 360-degree panoramic view of the Crystal Coast.

We are asked by many of our readers where to find a map of all of the North Carolina Lighthouses. We have on a Google Map that pinpoints the locations of each NC Lighthouse. If you click on one of the lighthouse locations on the map, a popup window will appear with more information about the lighthouse. From the popup window, you can also obtain driving directions to the lighthouse. You can also determine the proximity of one lighthouse to another, which is very useful in planing your visits.

The North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is having their annual Trick or Treat Under the Sea. Come check out the thrills and gills, Oct. 26 and 27! Ticket sales at the door are from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This year, advance tickets are available online. Admission price is $6 per person, per night; no charge for ages 2 and under.

The North Carolina Seafood Festival is celebrating its 25th Anniversary!
They’ll have lots of great entertainment with with bands like The North Tower Band and Sister Hazel, just to name a few. They’ll be great rides, for kids of every age. Lots of excellent vendors, with anything you could think of, from wood carvings and prints to the best local wines you could ask for. Then there is always all the Amazing seafood as far as the eye can see!

The North Carolina at Pine Knoll Shores is dishing up fond memories and cake on Sept.10 to celebrate its 35th anniversary. Photo exhibits and slideshows of the Aquarium’s history are featured throughout the day. Cake and cupcakes will be served beginning at 10 a.m.
The Aquarium debuted on Sept. 10, 1976. It is now much bigger than when those first few small tanks opened for exhibit. But the mission of environmental education has remained constant. So has its legacy of family fun and lasting memories.
